Excavation and Pour Days 9-15: May 01-May 09, 2008
Well, we let a week get away from us (and God forbid we get some work done!) and rather than breaking up into a week's worth of galleries, how about one week's worth in a gallery?
After beginning the excavation and pouring of the back of the foundation, they crew at Monaco moves onto the sides along 312 23rd Street and our Chez 311.
Continued shoring keeps us rocking and rumbling (gulp), but at each day's end, more dirt is moved, forms built and new footings and walls are up.
Though towards the end of the week we got a surprise...seems the DOB's Excavation Unit was back (now featured in the NY Times this week) and they are not happy with the site. Again.
No SWO this time, but remediation work is performed, backfilling of the shoring and then a thumbs up from DOB, but not after a few violations are written. Tisk-tisk Monaco, you should know better.
To top everything off, the monsoon of a spring we are having lead to high winds and the collapse of the construction fence next to our back door. Yikes! But our friendly neighborhood developer sent a crew out in the rain to make it nice and tight. Just in time for Mother's Day.
