Speed hump requests meeting at CB7 on March 12

Seems speed hump (bump) requests have become VERY popular in Greenwood Heights and Windsor Terrace. CB7′s transportation committee is holding a meeting on March 12 at 6:30pm at Community Board 7 (43rd St. and 4th Ave) to discuss SEVEN requests for traffic calming speed humps. Here’s the communities chance to come out and let folks know whether you are for or against the requests that DOT will be presenting to CB7. Some of them are requests from residents on certain blocks, several are via a recent traffic study of 6th Ave (btwn 20th and 24th Sts.).

Some of this info already appeared on the CCGH newsgroup a few weeks ago.

    16 th street btw 10th 11th. Cars run stop at 10th and speed down 16th, sometimes running stop at 11th as well. There have been several accidents.

    22nd Street between 6th and 7th has been requesting a speed bump for years. 7th Ave becomes a dead end at 23rd Street, cars HAVE to make a right turn down 22nd Street. 8 times out of 10 cars proceed at very high and unsafe speeds into the turn and down 22nd Street. I hope 22nd street gets added to the list!!

      to add this this cars racing down 22nd are building their speed from racing to catch the last light at 20th street and 7th ave. At the corner of 21st and 7th Ave, it is a blind stop sign for cars coming up the hill to oncoming traffic. A speed hump between 20th and 21st on 7th Ave or even better a four way stop sign at corner or 21st and 7th Ave would prevent more collisions from happening and then begin the speed reduction of cars entering into our no stop light nook in greenwood.
